How to Dispose Waste

  • City collects garbage regularly. According to the types of waste and recyclable, the schedule and places where garbage is collected are determined.

  • Each garbage collection day is listed on the waste collection calendar of Yamaguchi City.

  • Garbage collection sites are specified by the area you live in. Please ask your landlord or neighbors about where you should dispose waste.

●Types of Collectable and Recyclable Garbage
Garbage are collected by their
types.
Please make sure to separate your garbage according to the types listed below before disposing them.

Types of Waste Items How to dispose them
Burnable Waste Kitchen garbage,papers, leather items,wood chips,weeds,rubber goods,and soft plastic items excluding containers and packaging

Burnable waste should be put in the plastic bags specified by Yamaguchi city when disposing.

 

 

(These plastic bags are available at local stores, super markets and convenience stores.)

Non-burnable Waste Glass items, (glasses ,electric bulls,etc.) ceramics, and hard plastic items excluding containers and packaging
*Any side of the waste must be less than 1m.
Large-sized waste can be disposed as it is, but smaller sized waste should be put in transparent plastic bags.
Metals and Small Electric Appliances Metals
( pans,pots, stove gas rings, etc.)

Small electric appliances
( video-players, vacuums,electric funs,microwaves, etc.)

*Any side of the waste must be less than 1m,
bicycles, clothespoles, blinds, galvanized iron sheets can be disposed as it is.

Large-sized waste can be disposed as it is, but smaller sized waste should be put in transparent plastic bags.

 

Cans (recyclable) Cans which were used as containers for foods and beverages

Rinse inside of cans and do not squash them when disposing. Place them into the containers at the collection sites

Bottles (recyclable) Bottles which were used for foods, beverages.

Remove tops of bottles and rinse inside when disposing.

According to their colors, bottles should be placed into specified containers

Transparent bottles
→White containers

Brown Bottles
→Brown containers

The other color bottles
→Blue containers

Plastic Bottles
(recyclable)


Plastic bottles which have "PET" marks on them.(Used for soft drinks, liquor, or seasonings)

Remove tops, wash inside, and squash them when disposing.Place them into the containers.

(Tops of bottles should classified as "Plastic Containers")

 

Recyclable Used Papers and Materials Newspapers Including inserts, advertising flyers and other papers which are not bound with newspapers Fold it in four and bind them crisscrossed with paper twine. Place them into the containers at the collection sites.
Assortment of Papers Books, magazines , catalogs, textbooks copy papers and envelopes Bind them crisscrossed with paper twine. Place them into the containers at the collection sites.
Cardboard Only the types which contain wave materials are acceptable Fold less than 1m and bind them with the paper twine. Place them into the containers at the collection sites.
Paper Cartons

Paper cartons used for milk or beverages with the mark on the left

Paper cartons with aluminum inside are considered as "Paper containers and packaging"

Wash inside and cut it open. Bind them with paper twine Place them into the containers at the collection sites.

Paper bags, wrapping papers, paper boxes and paper cartons with aluminum inside with the mark on the left Bind them with paper twine or put them into a paper bag and bind it with paper twine. Place them into the containers at the collection sites.

Plastic containers and Packaging
Plastic bottles of shampoo or detergent, plastic films and cups of noodles, containers and packaging of snacks, and tops of plastic bottles with the mark on the left

Rinse inside and put them into a transparent plastic bag.
    UN-collectable Garbage and Recyclable Materials
  • Tires, motorcycles, car batteries, cans of waste-oil or paint, fire extinguishers Return them to the stores where you bought from.

  • Batteries, fluorescent lights, spray cans
    Place them into the specified containers set up at the City Hall and its branch offices.

    ※Make a hole on the spray cans before disposing. Tools to make a hole are available for free at Yamaguchi City Hall and its branch offices.

  • Air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators and freezers and laundry machines
    Please return them to the shop where you bought from or ask the shop where you are going to buy a new one. In some cases, a service charge will be required.

  • Oversized waste
    Oversized burnable waste which can not be put into the specified trash bags, oversized non-burnable waste, metals and electric appliances with any side    more than 1m
    .
    Please bring them to Clean Center by yourself, or ask oversized waste collection service to pick them up. A service charge will be required.
