Emergencies and Disasters

In case of fire or emergencies, call the Fire Department for a fire engine or ambulance.
In case of burglary, other crimes, or accidents call the police.

How to Make an Emergency Call from a Public Phone:

  • On a public phone, there is a button which does not require to insert coins or telephone cards.
  • Pick up the phone, press the red button and dial 110 for the police or 119 for the fire department and ambulance.
  • When an operator answer the emergency call, tell her about the following information in Japanese:
     1. What's happened ( It's an emergency! It's fire! It's an accident!)
     2. Your name
     3. Location where the emergency is
     4. A nearby landmark
     5. Your telephone number (or the number of the public phone)

    You : 「KynKyu desu !」(It's an emergency! )
