Yamaguchi
Public transportation in Yamaguchi City offers JR train lines and
public bus systems.
●How to Use Buses
- In order to take a bus, wait at a bus stop on the left side
of the direction of travel.
- When a bus arrives, check the sign of final destination displayed
in the top front window. If a bus has two doors, get on at the
rear door and take a ticket from the machine.
- A ticket may not come out at the first stop. In the bus , please
be aware of announcement. When an announcement for your destination
is played, press the button by the window to request the driver
to stop.
- Find out the fees on the board inside the bus and pay by dropping
the exact amount into the machine next to the driver.
- Since changes will not be provided to a customer, it is better
to change your money into coins.
( 1000 yen can be changed inside a bus, not for 5000 yen and 10,000
yen)
●How to Use JR Yamaguchi Lines
- JR Yamaguchi Lines run from Shin-Yamaguchi station to Masuda
station (in Shimane Prefecture), with roughly 40 trains per day.
- In Yamaguchi city, there are 20 stations (Shin-Yamaguchi, Suo-Shimogo, Kamigo, Nihozu, Otoshi, Yabara, Yuda-Onsen, Yamaguchi, Kami-Yamaguchi, Miyano, Niho, Shinome, Chomonkyo, Watarigawa, Mitani, Nagusa, Jifuku, Nabekura, Tokusa, Funahirayama)
- Before getting on a train, you should buy a ticket which can
be purchased at machines or tickets counter.

(Warning : Stations marked by boldface above are no-man operated
stations, there is neither a ticket agent nor a ticket machine.
Please take a ticket from the machine inside the train and pay
for a conductor before getting off.
●Schedules of Buses and Trains
- Schedules of JR buses and trains are available for free at Yamaguchi
Station and Yuda Onsen Station.
- There are some other bus lines running in the city. Schedules
of Bocho Bus and Yamaguchi Community Bus can be obtained at City
Hall as well.
