Japanese Post offices

  • Japanese post offices handle both domestic and international mail.

  • In domestic mail services, they handle letters and post cards. In international mail services, there are three types of shipping method : Airmail,Surface mail ( by ship) and Economy Air(AL).In addition, an express international mail service called EMS(Express Mail Service) is available to most countries.

  • In addition to postal services, Japanese post offices offer banking systems such as money saving systems.

  • Opening accounts, making cash cards, and making deposits and withdrawals are conducted in the same manner as the other commercial banks. Service hours of post offices and ATM machines may vary in each location.

  • Post offices are computerized, making financial transactions possible anywhere in Japan with no additional service charges. When traveling in Japan, using this system is very useful.
